AfInMic International Student Microscopy Symposium 2025 (ISMS 2025)
The African Inclusive Microscopy Network (AfInMic) International Student Microscopy Symposium 2025 (ISMS 2025) demonstrated strong growth in pan-African student engagement, expanding from 72 registrations across 6 African countries (2021) to 136 registrations across 14 African countries (2025). The awards programme celebrated excellence across microscopy and spectroscopy related techniques, reinforcing AfInMic’s mission to build skills, visibility, and a thriving pipeline of emerging talent across the continent.
Awards highlighted outstanding student work across microscopy technique categories, with winners representing institutions in South Africa, Nigeria, Namibia, Egypt, and Morocco. Recognised categories included Light Microscopy, Fluorescence / Laser Confocal Scanning Microscopy (LCSM), SEM, TEM, and Spectroscopy. A strong reflection of AfInMic’s growing, cross-regional talent base. A special TradePrize award winner from Morocco with an all-expenses-paid trip to MSSA 2026.
